Volunteers, interns and work-study students play a vital role in helping Mile High Youth Corps provide urban youth with opportunities to achieve their career and educational goals. Volunteers and interns assist MHYC Corpsmembers by providing caring and supportive adult relationships, modeling positive values and behaviors, and sharing their talents, energy, and experience. Volunteers also contribute to the overall success of the agency through service on the Board of Directors and various committees. Interns and work-study students assist with day-to-day program activities as well as with fundraising, marketing and event planning.
HOW YOU CAN HELP

- WORK ON A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT: Volunteers are invited to work alongside Corpsmembers on community service projects. MHYC serves the community Monday-Thursdays throughout the year. Projects include trail building, tree planting, community gardening, painting, housing renovation and other physical work. To see where MHYC crews will be working, check out the event calendar. In addition to these week-day crew projects, MHYC sponsors three Saturday volunteer projects each year: National Youth Service Day (April 21st, 2007), Colorado Cares Day with CH2MHILL (July 28th, 2007), and Make a Difference Day (October 27th, 2007). Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join MHYC for these one-day events. Contact Mike Allen at mikea@mhyc.net or 303.433.1206, Option 2, x243 for more information.
- SERVE ON A COMMITTEE: Volunteers assist MHYC staff with many aspects of agency operations including fiscal management and financial planning, marketing, fundraising, program development and technology. We are always looking for individuals willing to share their talents and expertise in these areas. Committees typically meet bi-monthly and as needed during specific projects or special campaigns. Committee members often become MHYC Board Members. If you are interested in serving on any of the committees mentioned above, please contact MHYC's Executive Director, Kelly Causey at kellyc@mhyc.net or 303.433.1206, Option 2, X225.
- BECOME A BOARD MEMBER: MHYC'S Board of Directors provides overall governance and direction for the organization. Board members commit to two year terms of service and make a personal financial contribution to the agency. The Board meets every other month. Board members also serve on one of the standing committees described above. Board members play a critical role in MHYC's success, actively fundraising, providing valuable connections in the community and lending their expertise for strategic planning decisions. If you are interested in serving on MHYC's Board of Directors, please contact MHYC's Executive Director, Kelly Causey at kellyc@mhyc.net or 303.433.1206, Option 2, X225.
