Mile High Youth Corps offers summer jobs for both in-school and out-of-school young adults ages 16-24. All jobs are outdoor and labor-intensive and involve working on a crew of 8-10 young adults. Crews participate in a variety of conservation, construction and environmental restoration projects throughout the Denver metro area.
The 2008 SUMMER OF SERVICE program runs from May 27th through August 15th (*exact start dates and weekly schedules vary by crew). Generally, it is a Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:00 or 6:00 pm schedule. Youth ages 17 and up may be eligible for AmeriCorps Education Awards after completing 300 or 450 hours of service.
MHYC's summer program varies slightly each year based on community project sponsor needs. However, the Corps has long-standing relationships with agencies like Colorado State Parks, Colorado Division of Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Denver Parks and Recreation and many other natural resource agencies that provide work projects each summer.
