As our community confronts the impact of COVID-19, Mile High Youth Corps is hard at work identifying emerging needs and mobilizing our staff and Corpsmembers to meet them. In close alignment with both State and municipal orders, we have developed COVID-19 prevention and containment measures that prioritize the safety of our staff, youth, partners and the many other members of the communities we serve across our 23 county service area. We have begun to focus our COVID-19 response and recovery efforts in the areas of Food Security, Community Health and Outreach, and Shelter and Materials Access, and are establishing collaborations with other essential social services organizations to meet the needs of those neighbors who, during this difficult time, are the most vulnerable among us. If you have an idea about how MHYC might be able provide assistance or support, we want to hear from you. Additionally, if you are interested in helping MHYC further its efforts to help youth make a difference in themselves and their community as they mobilize to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, please contact us.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is the foundation of MHYC’s work. In 2019, we made a decision to focus our DEI efforts on racial equity. We created an Equity Lens to help guide us in this work.
The recent acts of racist violence have created a range of emotions among our staff and Corpsmembers. We are putting in the work to help dismantle systems of oppression that permeate our communities and we will continue this work with our new crews and Corpsmembers starting this summer and beyond.
