Mile High Youth Corps Proudly Partners with Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace, a non-profit organization that educates and provides training to minimize our environmental impact, works together with Mile High Youth Corps to support our shared interests – protecting the environment, supporting youth, and serving our communities.

Damaged trails, destructive fires, and misinformation in the outdoors are just a few of the problems Leave No Trace works hard to solve. With our community partnership, MHYC staff have taken opportunity to receive training on said topics, which are all part of LNT’s ‘7 Principles’; a framework of minimum impact practices that cover specific topics while providing detailed information for minimizing harmful impacts we all have on our environment. The principles training received by multiple MHYC staff members has given them new ways to educate themselves and our Corpsmembers about helpful environmental practices, which in turn, makes our work – and positive change – more possible and impactful.

The 7 Principles

  1. Plan Ahead & Prepare
  2. Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces
  3. Dispose of Waste Properly
  4. Leave What You Find
  5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
  6. Respect Wildlife
  7. Be Considerate of Others

With our Leave No Trace partnership, Mile High Youth Corps not only gains knowledge, but also allows members of our organization to receive access to resources, obtain new skills, and attend informative trainings.
